2012 Olympics: a price worth paying? | Open thread
The prices of tickets for different events at the 2012 London Olympics have been released. Which sports are really worth it?What's a game of handball worth? Or a spot of dressage? The answers – for the 2012 Olympics at least – have been revealed and make intriguing reading. You'll find yourself paying between £45 and £125 for the handball final, and dressage will set you back £275. Apart from the opening ceremony, which comes in at a whopping £2,012 for the very best seats (see what they did there?), the most expensive events are the athletics super final (£725) and swimming and artistic gymnastics finals (both £450). But why go with the Olympic favourites? There are some less sought-after sports in there that you can attend for a (relative) snip. Tennis quarter finals, to be held at Wimbledon, are a mere £20, as is canoe slalom and the beach volleyball preliminary heats at Horseguards Parade in central London. Are the prices right? Is the opportunity to watch Olympic trampolining really worth more than a bit of Greco-Roman wrestling? What would you most want to see if you had the choice?Olympic games 2012guardian.co.uk © Guardian News & Media Limited 2010 | Use of this content is subject to our Terms & Conditions | More Feeds guardian.co.uk |
